The 9 th European Basic Course on Aerobiology will be held in Evora, a historic small town of south Portugal, 110 Km east of Lisbon, from 2th - 9th September 2009, in a joint collaboration of European Aerobiology Society (EAS), University of Evora and SPAIC.

  • Lecturers by leading european experts in aerobiology will cover its main topics namely:
  • Aerodynamics and dispersal of airborne particles
  • Sampling technologies of bioaerosols and aeroallergens
  • Pollen biology, structure, function, morphology
  • Fungal spores: production and release
  • Microscopic techniques in aerobiology
  • Statistical techniques applied to aerobiology
  • Plant taxonomy and identification
  • The European Pollen Information system (databases and software) and the European Allergen Network
  • Quality control in Aerobiological Analysis

There will be an emphasis on practical sessions covering aspects like operation of volumetric traps and sampling processing, pollen and fungal spore identification by optical microscopy or laboratory management of protocols.
